Organisations, roles and permissions

An organisation is your team's container. Members hold the owner, admin or member role, and access to each case is granted explicitly, never automatically.

Early access

The LexSalim application is opening in stages and is not yet available for public sign-in. This article describes how the workspace is designed to work for early-access members; wording and screens may change before general release.

Every account belongs to at least one organisation. The organisation holds the subscription, the members and the cases. Your organisation's workspace is what you see after signing in.

Roles

Role What it can do
Owner Everything, including billing, deleting the organisation and changing other members' roles. The owner role cannot be granted by invitation; it belongs to whoever created the organisation.
Admin Manage members and invitations, update organisation settings, and work in cases they belong to. Inviting someone as an admin requires a fresh authenticator check.
Member Work in the cases they have been added to.

Case access is explicit

Being in an organisation does not give you access to its cases. Each case has its own membership, and someone must add you to a case before you can see its documents, timeline or Case Agent. This is deliberate: a practice can keep client matters separate, and an individual can share one case with an adviser without exposing the others.

What this means in practice:

  • A new member sees an empty case list until they are added to cases.
  • Admins and owners do not automatically see every case either; they manage people, and case members manage case access.
  • Removing someone from a case removes their access immediately. Removing them from the organisation removes them from all its cases.

Changing roles and removing members

Owners and admins can change a member's role or remove them from Settings → Members. These actions ask for a fresh authenticator check, and the audit trail records who changed what and when.

Several organisations

You can belong to more than one organisation with the same email address, for example your own and a client's. Switch between them from the workspace switcher at the top left. Cases, documents and agents never cross organisation boundaries.
